I think most of us can remember the “landline.” The continuous fight over who got the phone to call their best friend or boyfriend. The embarrassment of having your little brother or sister quietly listening to your phone calls when you weren’t aware of it. So why is it that most Americans can’t give up the landline? In a day and age where every man, woman, and toddler has a cell phone, why must we keep the landline? If your answer is to talk to marketers, we need to talk.
In a recent Pew study, 28 percent of people said they would have a hard time giving up their landline.
When it comes to the Internet and our wonderful smart phones, those numbers are even higher. Fifty-three percent of respondents said they would have a hard time giving up Internet connect. Whereas 49 percent would have a hard time giving up a smart phone or cell phone.
